About Langtang and Gosainkunda Trek:

The Langtang Gosainkunda Lake Trek begins with an overland journey to the small hilly town of Dhunche, the main trading post of the region. From here, we spend four days hiking through a beautiful alpine valley to Kyangjin Gompa, where we rest for a day to explore the surrounding high mountains and glacial systems. We then retrace our steps for three days before heading toward the sacred lakes of Gosainkunda, a major pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Crossing Laurebina Pass (4,600m), we descend into the lush Helambu region and experience diverse mountain cultures along the way.

The Langtang Valley is often called the “Valley of Glaciers.” Pine forests, rushing mountain streams, rugged rock formations, and silver-grey peaks create a dramatic Himalayan landscape. The towering Langtang Lirung dominates the skyline. Along the trail, we encounter serene monasteries, traditional cheese factories, grazing yaks, glaciers, and pristine mountain lakes that highlight the natural beauty of the region. The vibrant Sherpa and Tamang villages provide deep insight into the traditional lifestyle of Himalayan communities.

The trail offers breathtaking views of Himalchuli (7,893m), Manaslu (8,156m), and Ganesh Himal (7,406m). On clear days, even the distant Annapurna range can be seen rising in the west. From Laurebina Pass, we get our first stunning views of the holy lakes of Gosainkunda. The Gosainkunda Basin contains around a dozen lakes, with the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda, and Gosainkunda. According to legend, Lord Shiva created Gosainkunda by piercing a glacier with his trident to obtain water after swallowing poison that threatened the world.

We finally conclude Kathmandu Summit Adventure’s Langtang Gosainkunda Lake Trek and return to Kathmandu after a scenic drive, completing a remarkable Himalayan journey through one of Nepal’s most rewarding trekking regions.
